UAE federal decrees are instruments issued by the President of the UAE in exercise of executive authority under the Constitution. They are used to ratify international treaties, appoint senior federal officials, dissolve or convene the Federal National Council, and to enact measures of statutory force where urgency or constitutional design requires presidential action. Federal decrees are distinct from federal decree-laws, which substitute for ordinary legislation between FNC sessions.
The translations on this page cover decrees ratifying bilateral treaties, joining international conventions, restructuring federal authorities, and appointing judicial and executive officers. They are essential reading for understanding the formal entry into force of treaty obligations and the institutional architecture of the federal government. For ordinary federal legislation see UAE laws in English.
