UAE federal decrees are instruments issued by the President of the UAE in exercise of executive authority under the Constitution. They are used to ratify international treaties, appoint senior federal officials, dissolve or convene the Federal National Council, and to enact measures of statutory force where urgency or constitutional design requires presidential action. Federal decrees are distinct from federal decree-laws, which substitute for ordinary legislation between FNC sessions.
