Trade Marks (UAE, Federal Law No. 37, 1992) in English

Federal Law No. 37 of 1992 was the UAE trademark statute for nearly three decades: registration, protection, infringement and the remedies available to brand owners. It has since been replaced by Federal Decree-Law No. 36 of 2021 on Trademarks, but registrations, disputes and licensing arrangements created under the 1992 regime are still assessed against it.

The text is used by IP counsel handling older UAE marks and oppositions, by brand owners auditing the history of their Gulf portfolios, and by anyone tracing how a mark registered in the 1990s or 2000s acquired — or lost — its protection.
