The UAE Federal Labour Law governs employment relationships in the private sector across all seven emirates. It regulates the formation and termination of employment contracts, working hours and overtime, weekly rest and annual leave, sick leave and maternity leave, end-of-service gratuity, occupational safety, and the resolution of individual labour disputes. Specialised regimes apply to free-zone employment, domestic workers, and seafarers under separate enabling statutes; the federal Labour Law sets the baseline that those regimes build upon.
